KastKing Rods- Experience thus far?

Featured Replies

Just curious to hear people's experiences with their rods. I realize that their rods are a more recent addition to the market than their reels. It appears the general consensus is that for the price the reels perform, but are the rods the same way? I am looking at the new Speed Demon Pro Rods. Do they compare to other 100 dollar rods such as the Dobyns Fury, St Croix Mojo, etc? Any insight is greatly appreciated.

I have the Kastking Perigee II (casting and spinning) and Kastking Calamus Rods(spinning) I have nothing but good things to say about all three of the rods I purchased.

With Kastking I find that you get a product that is far better than it’s price point would have you believe. That was true with their reels but it is especially true with their rods.

that is good to know. I wish there were places that could carry so I can at least see/feel them in person, get a sense of the taper, etc.

while i appreciate the vote of confidence, I am hoping to see if there might be more unbiased opinions/experiences.

I have one KastKing rod, the KKR-SDP-1C76CR Carolina Rig rod.  It is a high quality rod and it will not be my last. My only complaint is that it is rated as a fast action medium heavy rod and the action is not heavy enough for me.  I going to give it more time to see if the action grows on me.  I may replace it with one of their heavy action rods.  Based on my experience with this rod,  I don't think they have a rod that would be heavy enough for me to use as a worm/jig rod and certainly nothing I would use as a flippin rod.
