Ideas on mounting my transducer

Featured Replies

Looking for Ideas on mounting my HummingBird transducer on my 14 jon?

Fella at the BP shop said he would caulk a marine board to the transom and screw the transducer to that(has more meat to bite into)

Or what about the trolling motor?

I ask cause its my first one ;)

First off, I would read the users manual and follow the directions.  Personally I wouldn't mount a board to my boat.

What type of propulsion are you using to move the boat?  Outboard?  Transom mount trolling motor, bow mount trolling motor?

I did the following on my 12' aluminum boat years ago.

Mounted a trolling motor mount style transducer on the front trolling motor.  I screwed the transom mount into the back right side of the transom.  I squired silicone in the holes and on the screws when I screwed them in.  I had two Humminbird mounts and moved the depth finder to the front and back depending on where I was sitting.

If you are going move about using a bow mounted trolling motor, you might just want to exchange your transducer for a trolling motor mount style and just use that all the time.  Humminbird will exchange it for you through the mail.

Mount it on the transom like Tpayneful said, then put the depth finder in the bow, kick the font size up on the depth finder so you can see the numbers from the back of the boat. Now you can read the depth finder from the back of the boat while running & still have it in the front when fishing.

Every transducer that I have mounted has been on a trolling motor if you are using your trolling motor for propusion then I would put it some where else. Oh, wait, I did one transom mount.

Lund boats come with a transducer board supplied.  The board is attached to the boat above the water line and the transducer attached to the board.  NO LEAKY that way.

Hmmm. I will be usinga minkota trolling motor on the bow, gas in the back when needed, I may go with that Catt, I might mount the depth finder on the middle seat and swivel it front or back when needed.

Thanks guys ;)
