How to stop this from peeling???

Recommended Posts

I have this graphite Daiwa rod and noticed the protective plastic "coating" has started to peel in this particular spot. Is there something I can apply to this area to stop it?

Ask this in the Rod Builders Forum. They'll get ya fixed up. Brian.

I have a veritas rod that has a good amount of spots like that and although I haven't done anything about it, I would think some clear nail polish would stop it from spreading.

You could mix up some clear epoxy and put on that spot. Clear nail polish would work as a quick fix too. I’d very very carefully take a razor blade and cut/score around the area and peel off the lifted epoxy. Not sure if that part is something required but it makes sense to me. It would give it a place to stop peeling. Kinda like rust repair on a car. You have to go further out than just where the rust is.

I think this comes from being in contact from plastic baits.

Another vote here for the clear nail polish trick.
