Well my 400# blackbears left the area for his mate. The 170# blackbears with four orange tags ,  two in each ear hit the road too. The little 140lb cub is camped out here in the watershed. The crazy yellow lab keeps him at bay. But when it’s here the cats in the house are crawling to the back room to hide. The cub is on the front porch looking in the house. The bird feeders have been in for a while now.  I haven’t been night fishing so I’m not sure how the bears are in my hot spots.

so many broods of turkeys this year.

Lots of bears showing up in towns this year, they always claim that’s a bad year for hard mast. I wonder if anyone asked the bear why he came to town 

Not where I fish, but everywhere else. Northwest Ct. Hiking on the AT, and most other places, even in my yard. I go out with a bright light at night, before I go out with my 3 dogs. No offence, but your yellow Labs., or any other dog is no match for a bear. Be safe

A lot of bears to the south, but right now there are none around my area. 

I am in the foothills of the Blue Ridge and we normally don't get bears unless there's a drought and their food source in the mountains runs out.  I have had them come up and check out my smoker.  The pic is from my great room and my house is built on a cliff.  That's my lower deck where I put the smoker.  The grill is on an upper deck where Yogi can't get to it.

Unfortunately, around where I live the PA Game Commission thinks it is a good idea to release nuisance bears they trap in the Poconos. It seems people who have vacation homes in the Poconos like to have all kinds of wildlife in their backyards. Including bears. So they put out sweets like honeybuns for them. But when they start getting scared by the bears and how intrusive they can be, such as clawing at a homes back door or ripping through a metal garbage can like it was a red Solo cup, they call the Game Commish and they trap the bear and bring it down here where there are less people and more places to roam. Causes havoc when you see a bear wandering down the main street of your town just looking for a meal.

In my area, it's bird feeders. People put a few up in their yard, then complain when they attract bears, not birds.

No one seems to want a bear hunting season, yet that seems to be the best solution at this point.

Better than getting hit by cars, or a threat to people or pets. 

Pulled in the birdfeeders. The cub dragged a bag of sunflower seeds to the building lot I have, bit it open and rolled in it today then dragged what was left to his den. A doe and her fawn showed up to eat the left overs.  It’s time to get a bushel of apples and make friends with the cub.
