8" Rage Tail Recon Worm

Featured Replies

I have seen a number of threads on here since these worms came in to existence, around 2012, where members speak very highly of them.

I came across a Pinterest page that showed all the color option of this worm.  So I decided to look on tackle warehouse, bass pro, and other online stores to see how much they were and what color options were available to purchase.  What I found were only a few colors existed, and or all were out of stock.

Here is a link to the BPS site that has very few colors to pick from and all are out of stock in my area.

So my question is WHY.  why the limited stock and WHY are they hard to find?

I saw the ones on tackle warehouse but they look different, yet have the same name

I can't answer your question.

But I can say that I don't miss them.  Thumpers and Anacondas, for me, cover the spread.  I just never found the flange-y Recons different enough, nor durable enough to make me stay with them.  Was a rare outing that I could get more than one fish per worm....and I never thought they outfished the other two.

With me never trying them myself, I can't add anything.  They look appealing to me though

I kinda like the Recons, they (and all ribbed plastics) are great when I want to use scent or really want to slow-drag a worm.  I use 10" Culprits most all the time when I fish a ribbon tail, but there are always a few Recons on hand if I really need to grind one out.  They are pretty fragile though.  I am sad to see them go, but not enough to go crazy and buy a million of them like my beloved Rage Shellcracker.

Funny...I’ve never noticed the lack in availability and colors. My local BPS carries red, and green pumpkin, which, ironically are the only two colors I’ve tried. And they work just fine? I also haven’t noticed imuntil now that nobody really talks about them. They work great!

I've been throwing Ringworms (ribbed) since Rebel Ringworms back in the early 70s.

The rings offer a larger profile but with less plastic for the hook to penetrate.

As for limited supply, y'all aint buying enough of em!
