This question popped into my head, does braided line damage guides? After snooping around the internet I see some people saying yes, it causes grooves and others saying no way, it's not harmful at all. Does anyone know the truth?

No. Any braid ive used has never even come close. Braids of many many years ago were rougher and created grooves. Advancements in rod guides and line, pretty much cured that.

I know most people that complained of braids damaging guides, were using braids that had kevlar in them. But I feel like its still a grey area and no ones really sure. Thanks for the input
 

The original superline, Kevlar, was tough on guides, but that was over 20 years ago. None of the modern superlines will do any damage to your guides. 

Ive used nothing but braid including Kevlar since the 90s with no damage.

This is what I'm leaning towards, thanks for the advice! 

Modern braids and guides will not harm each other at all. Its actually the sediments picked up by the old braid that caused problems with some low end guides.

I read that somewhere too, the modern braids don't pick up sediment as the old ones did? Or not as much?

I think the newer materials and weaves make a difference as well as ring materials. To date, I've never grooved a guide or had a build returned for repair of grooved guides.
