What's your current favorite lure?

Recommended Posts

Although I absolutely love throwing my spooks, without a doubt a jig/trailer is my favorite. That combo accounts for a minimum of 50% of the bass I catch throughout the season. Jigs, however, only account for a very small portion of the lures in my possession. Based solely on numbers, cranks top that list.

Tender tube in green pumpkin. Until this year I was lukewarm to tubes, but my opinion has changed.

Good call.  I've had the pull-out-your-hair tough days and I go straight to a lipless (Cotton Cordell, Rat-L-Trap, or Red eye Shad) and a Zoom Trick Worm.  Those are my "Not going to take a skunk today" baits.

I like this thread and all. What guys favorites and all is interesting. I’m realizing now that I don’t really have a favorite. Maybe my favorite is whatever is working at the time.

I’ve also had days down on the river pulling my hair out to the point I packed up the boat and battened everything down and said “I’m outta here”. But only to pull out my grub bin container with some 3” Power Grubs in it, 6’10” ML xfast st. croix w/ 6# test and a 1/8 oz. jig head. Tell myself I’m staying, I’m not getting skunked. Just another bidly lure that will get the job done.

Sometimes there's a big difference between what is my favorite and what I need to throw to catchem.;)

Favorite lure? That's easy. Jig. I am completely addicted to the THUNK of an aggressive jig bite.

My favorite is a jig.  This year's runner-up is a 1/2 ounce lipless crankbait.

Terminator Titanium Spinnerbait, or as I tell my friend, "The one in the blue package, you idiot!". He has bought so many of the stainless variety and wonders why they stay bent after catching a bass.

Currently it's a jerkbait, specifically a Death Drop 115, and a Zoom Magnum Finesse worm on a 1/8oz shakyhead.

Those are pretty much the only 2 baits I can get bit on the the last few weeks so by default, they're my favorites 😆

I’m seriously thinking about picking up another 3700 series box and go through my stuff and pull out a bunch of old school plastics, hard baits, jigs, and topwaters. Proven stuff that I’ve gotten away from for one reason or another. Things change and that must be the nature of the business. I’m surprised that many major companies have not kept up with the times. You hear a lot of talk about how the bass get use to seeing certain things. May or may not be true. But if that be the case I have stuff that they have not seen in a long while or in their life time.

I’m not referring to antique lures but lures and patterns from the 80’s, 90’s and early 2000’s.

@Spankey, I totally feel that.  My local lake...er...pond...er, 55 acre impoundment is a mess of pads towards one end and during the summer I do pretty decent.  Public fishing area, ludicrously heavy pressured body.  A lot of folks throw hollow frogs, me included.

This year I'm gonna grab a Johnson Silver Minnow, throw a grub or worm on the hook, and hit those pads with something they haven't seen.

7" Triple Trout...no questions asked.

Your favorite lure costs more than most of my reels!  😅  I'm getting my budgety swimbait setup for Christmas but plan to stick some Hudd 68s and Gills on the end of it, as well as an S-Waver or two.

Do you Texas Rig this feller or what?  Weightless?  Tell me more, turtle tosser.

Wait, I've got it.  You throw it weightless, Texas rigged on top of logs with the other shelled critters and drop it off the side and get your shoulder dislocated!

I personally like the added vibration imaging lines off of each appendage.

@Fishingmickey that's the vibrationingest son of a gun there ever was and ever gone be.

One of the most awesome things I did as a kid was year we had the 17 year Cicada hatch. I was a caddy at a local golf course.and when we (the foursome) would get close to a water hole. I'd catch a Cicada and throw it in the water. The Cicada would start fluttering it's wings and buzzing. It would be buzzing and spinning in circles then Kasploose! The explosions were amazing when the bass would nail them.
