I just got the hard bait making kit from makelure.com. It includes a 2 part resin for casting lures, a 2 part silicone for making molds, a lightweight filler for the resin, and some accessories. I was previously making lures from wood, and am excited to upgrade to plastic/resin. I haven't gotten a chance to use the kit yet. Any general tips for making molds/casting the lures?

Ballasting the bait is very weight sensitive.

Those are some nice looking crankbaits.

Thanks, I molded the body of a RC 1.5 years ago because I was going to create a line of baits. These are Alumilite Resin with 75% micro-balloons by volume.

What baits are you going to cast as it will make a difference.

Hope you did well in Physics as Archimedes Principle of water displacement comes into play here.

I've made a mold for a Zara puppy. I have one weighted, painted, and ready to be clearcoated. It's weighted so it sits in the water the same as the original. I forgot to account for the weight of the line/clearcoat, so it will sit slightly lower in the water. I am in the process of making a mold from a Biwaa Seven 4" multi-jointed swimbait.
