Been looking at these for a while.

Wanted a way to keep water & debris from going down into the seat post (and non-optional ski-post) 'holes' in the Pro-V Bass deck.

Had to be durable, fit snuggly but also be removable.

Settled on Bob's Machine Shop's Deck Plugs .

CNC aircraft-grade aluminum, has watertight system and an O-ring seal, which keeps water out of your dry boxes.

Clearly haven't been on the water with them but my experience says -

'Yea - these are going to be perfect'. 

They have colors but I think 'stepping' on them all day may wear off the paint eventually.

How far up do they sit?  What I mean is, are they level with the base itself or do they sit above it and pose a tripping hazard?

I can’t seem to find if they have em in other diameters, my Smokercraft has larger posts and I’d love the same setup for my front deck. 

I suppose I could just jam some play dough in there ??.

 And something I was concerned with as it doesn't take much to get me up-ended. 

 It may depend on how a seat post is designed.  My rig has a small 'insert' that sits about an 1/8 inch above the deck.

These plugs sit 'flush' with that but is about another 1/16 of an inch above that.

So although it will be a while before I get to float around, I do not expect it will take too long to acclimate to the additional 3/16 of an inch.

The two sizes I've seen available are 0.75 and 1.77 inch.

While I can not ever see these plugs 'coming out' on their own (falling out essentially),

they are easily lifted up & out of the wholes with most any small, flat, square ended implement.

A small screwdriver works for me.

Yeah, great product.  I've got 4 of the carbon fiber ones in my boat, they are sharp looking!

 

My only problem was that the carbon fiber ones were $35 each....

So you pry them out by using a screw driver blade. Don't know the type of lubricant used for the O-ring but it may take a set and be difficult to pry up after a few months. Might think about using a shoe lace tied under the collar for a lanyard if needed.

Update ~

After a couple of months of 'use', the deck plugs are indeed an improvement.

Clearly they do what they're designed to do (plug 4 holes in my deck that I would otherwise find highly undesirable) 

and have not impeded or been a distraction to my fishing in any way (I don't trip over them). 

I remove one at the stern every trip as that seat post hole supports my go pro camera mount and it comes out by hand (no prying needed). I replace it when I secure the camera mount pole.  And the the same goes for the front seat post plug, although I use that one fairly intermittently.

The other two have remained in their assigned position since the original install.
