How do the MLF score keepers / referees stay in touch? They fish some big waters that must have areas that don't have cell tower coverage.

Off the top of my head?

Hand-held short-wave radio. Everyone on the same frequency and it's a 'party line'.

They have little satellite antennas on the boat.  They showed how it works during the first season.  I would imagine it's the same system used by satellite telephones.  It provides slow but reliable digital connections.
