Well...kind of a venting update.  I thought my boat was fixed....so did others....NOT.  Got to fish eight times I believe including three small tourneys with two first's and a second.  Last night.....sadness...my son and I got second...which is good...what is bad is the old boat burped...again.  So many thoughts....Heading out with a good friend to fish a biggie so maybe will get lucky and get a down payment on another hole in the water that brings peace and joy and camaraderie!!!  Might have to work on golf game....I ain't sitting around.

Tight Lines all....

That stinks about the boat.

I hope they can figure it out and get it right.

Good luck in the big tourney!!

Sorry about the boat, but grats on taking second! At least the boat can be fixed, but seeing all that hard work pay off and getting second is nothing to be ashamed of! Just trying to see the glass as half full here :)

Define "Burped".  There's the "it wouldn't start or run right" kinda burp and then there's the "it threw a piston through the block" kinda burp.

Hope it's not major.

Congrats on your solid Derby performances.

Sorry to hear that TR20 is not at it's best.  With going on 17 years of service and what is probably 800 plus hrs now on that prop turner, once she gets the TLC she needs, perhaps she'll have you right back at it.

We will see.....she's been in and out of shop since first of December.  Will work fine for a day or two...the real biggie is no hole shot and overall low RPM's.  Seems merc doesn't have a clue either.  Not sure if wanting to keep putting money into it.  Lot's of suggestions have been offered....lots...so will just take one day at a time and see where this story goes.

Hitting the road today for an adventure and so will put all this on back burner till next week.

You all have a great weekend

my 2 cents, cut your losses with that motor and spend your hard earned money on something reliable.

I had a 125 HP Force that would do something  similar . Turned out the fuel line was clogged with  something that resembled petroleum jelly .It would run good then no rpm's at all . I went through this for weeks. After the clog was found and removed it ran great .

This deffinately sounds like a fuel issue. Check your fuel line they break down from I side out. Also you primer bulb if you have one could be weak or just flat worn out also if you have quick release fittings on your motor like alot of outboards do check the o rings. Sometimes the biggest issues have the simplest solutions

Merc mechanics working on the OB should be able to track down a Grimlin if it's repeat problem? Low hp/rpm's sounds like the OB is dropping a cyclinder and that could be electrical/computer if the compression is good.

Good luck,

Tom

Since the number one plug is always fowled rumors are it may be the brains in the motor.  This is an expensive part and if I do this and then a month or two down the road it needs other band aids.....well...I think I'm done.  Going to talk to a local dealer that I have worked with in the past and get a better idea on options.  What boat is worth...etc....

Believe if possible I'm going to go with a tin boat in the 18 or 19 foot range.  Depends on cost's etc....have been doing a lot of looking....a lot.

It was interesting...many many years ago I met Forest Wood...in my eye's he was and is a class act.  When the Classic was here in Knoxville a while back I shook his hand and we talked a bit.  I told him I had always wanted a Ranger but life had led me to owning a couple Triton's.  I said I'm confused now...I told him about wanting a Ranger and thinking of the RT and now he's part of the making of Vexus.....I said I'm confused.  He said .... Son....smiled...and said continue to due your research.

:)

#1 cylinder dropping out sounds like a ignition issue more then a computer failing. You need to fix the OB to sell it unfortunately or disclose the problem to any buyer.

The Triton boat isn't the issue, good luck with whatever decision you choose.

If tournament fishing is the goal you need a 19' for the front deck room at a minimum if 2 anglers use the deck. You are use to a 21' so that length is probably a better choice for you.

I down sized back in 2005 to a 17'6" Triton TR175 w/115 Opimax so it fits in my garage easily and rarely fish tournaments anymore, only a night charity event with my son occasionally.

The Merc only has 52 hours run time because the lake I fish is small and not running any time or distance, plus fished with partners a lot from their boats.

Long story short I plan to sell the TR175 soon, my son has stage 4 renal cancer and our focus is trying to save him, fishing has lost it's importance for me. The BR site gives me a deversion as life can turn quickly.

Good luck with your choice,

Happy Easter

All the best to you on your new journey....we lost our daughter to cancer several years ago and our lives and thoughts on things have changed a lot. (will lift you all up)  Went through a long period of very little to no fishing or nothing.  Only tourney fishing on a bigger league is team fishing now...not playing games anymore...out for the fun and camaraderie.

All the best to you and yours

My son is young at 37 and this gives us hope, I am pushing 77 and time isn't on my side regarding fishing.

Didn't mean to hijack this thread, the title inspired me to share this and I need to sell my boat, why not to someone who appricates it. Thank you for the kind thoughts, it is heartbreaking to lose a child very sorry to hear about your daughter.

Hope you get back on the water soon,

Tom
