Spinnerbaits

Recommended Posts

I bought a couple Dobyns spinnerbaits with double willows last year, (didn't know they made them) and they are excellent build/quality components for around 6 dollars if I remember correctly. I even caught my PB this year on one. I will definitely be buying more.

Ive been pouring my own . I have had badly mangled wire harnesses each time out this year .I just remove the hardware and put it on a new form . I even melt the  leadhead  and reuse the hook .   Light-wire lures dont last long at all before they snap . I have two brand new ones with the old blades ready to go next trip .

I was lucky enough to come into a bunch of free spinnerbaits a long time ago, some real nice ones, I don't know what they were. I add my own skirts. There were some that had matte black wire, like gun blued. Lost those a long time ago. I really liked that black wire, never see that for sale.

I like Terminators or War Eagles.   For Murky to Muddy water I like a half ounce Colorado Blade spinner bait, with the blade slightly bigger than a quarter.   Colors for clearer water I like a Golden Shiner or the War Eagle Mouse or Spot Remover color.   Murky to Muddy water I like Chartruese/white with either painted blades or a copper blade.

I used War Eagle for years, and it's a good bait. However, a couple years ago I tried the Super V-Flat, and V-Flat Power Bomb by Megabass. I hated spending that kind of coin on a spinnerbait, but after seeing how these baits go through, around, and over wood, I was hooked. (and so were the fish) I don't know if they still make the Super V-Flat, but I know the Power Bomb can still be had. Now, if only other companies would take a look at the head design and make one for under $10.

I s that wire suppose to be bent or is it mangled ?

A Banana head spinnerbait    might be pretty close to that as , far as snaglessnness goes .

I use the Strike King and Jawbone spinnerbaits found at Dick's and even the $1.00 Wal Mart spinnerbaits all with success. I find if I put a Keitech Swing Impact trailer or even a cheap Zoom paddletail trailer I usually get more strikes.

The wire comes like that and it's very flexible, always springs back to original shape. Through my own observation, I'd say it helps a lot when making contact with wood.

I was a big fan of the River2Sea Bling in Abalone Shad and Terminator T-2. But I tried the Omega Gennisis Ti and they were amazing. They are on the more expensive side but you can build your own in their website. I like the fact that I can bend the wire to make a bigger or smaller profile and it doesn't effect of the spinnerbait performs. I use the double Willow leaf almost exclusively on all my spinnerbaits.

On a lake like that you could probably catch fish on a bare chrome hook. I'm not jealous though 😁

I'd like to fish a lake like that just to see what they won't bite.

Just take me along with you. I’ll be able to tell what they’re not biting on.

Agreed!  I've caught a lot of bass on the Sexy Mouse so far this year.
