Tuesday of next week I am headed to get a new kayak, decided on a Bonafide.  A buddy of mine has a SS127 and I can't decide if I want that one or the the shorter SS 107.  He is telling me I should probably get the bigger one, because of my weight.  They both are rated for well over my weight but when you add in tackle and other equipment, I am starting to believe the bigger one is the way to go.  I don't want to go into the whole experience with my mind totally set on one or the other, I am going to talk to the guys that own the shop and see what they say, since they know best most likely.  Really excited to get it and get to fish from it the rest of the summer.  The next issue after that will be color selection!  HAHA.  Ok I guess I am just thinking out loud a little here, but if you have opinions, fire away!

Go with the bigger boat. 10' isn't enough boat for someone over 6'+ and 200+ pounds.

Well the height thing is not a problem, haha, I am just as round as I am tall some would say!

I'd get the bigger boat, irrespective of weight.  I prefer a 12-14' boat for fishing.  Everything smaller doesn't have the room I need and feels cramped.

And a longer kayak at the same width will track better.   I went from a 10.5 foot to a 12 and couldn't be happier.

The longer one is an inch narrower, but from what I have heard from people that own each is they are both very stable.  I will probably end up with the bigger one, for the simple fact then I won't have to upgrade later, and it comes with a few more options also!

I had to make this same decision when I got my Ultimate except the difference was between 12ft and 14.5ft.  I went with the 14.5ft and couldn’t be happier I did.  The only time it feels too long is when I paddle so far up the creeks that I wouldn’t be able to turn around with a 10 footer either lol

SS127!  See if they'll throw in a free PFD too. (or at least a discounted PFD)

I like the Gun Metal color but my buddy I fish with has that color, so I will probably go with another color.  Depending on what they have

Well this plan was scrapped yesterday, that is the bad news.  The good news is I am now the soon to be owner of a 2007 Bass Tracker Pro Team 170 TX.  Going to pick up the boat tomorrow!😀

Go with the longer one. The hull will paddle faster, and is more efficient. There are also more features on the longer one. I really like the hatch on the bow of the 127. You can actually store extra rods in there very easily. Sure, you'd have to stop and get out to get the rods out, but they're there if you need them. And even though the 127 is a slightly shorter beam, I couldn't tell any difference in stability between the two boats. I have demo'd both boats a few times. I really like the 127 better, and I plan on buying one before next spring. Good luck, and let us know what you decide on!

I have a 10 footer that’s also offered in a 12...

I really wish I went with the 12. Like @J Francho said, I feel cramped sometimes.

Yes I got the boat Tuesday!!  Haven't had the chance to get it out and fish yet, when I got there to pick the boat up and transfer the title the guy informed me that he didn't have a registration for the trailer.  Went and transferred the title for the boat and hauled it home the two hours without plates on the trailer.  Have to get the boat off the trailer this weekend and then go weigh the trailer so I can register it.  Then hoping to get the boat out soon after that, I don't play games with the law, cause as they say if I didn't have bad luck I wouldn't have luck at all.
