I've had enough of being tracked, thanks. But I haven't read Anglr's EULA, is the service worth it?

Do they sell your info?

Is this a step to far?

Has Anglr helped you catch more fish?

Any other apps you feel are actually helpful? I've signed up with NPS, looks to have some decent content. Maps are nothing to write home about though, are they better if you pay for premium?

I'm resistant to new gadgets like these (especially phone fishing apps) so I'm far from interested in this for myself.

As for the rod - stupid idea in my opinion. Seems easier just to wear a lanyard with a remote than to have it built into your rod, unless you have it built in every rod you own.

And if the app shares fishing spots with the world - well to each his/her own but that is definitely not for me. And (speaking as an ex-app developer) I can't say for sure but ya, it probably shares your data. Maybe not. If it's free it probably does, and if it isn't free it probably does too :)

That ship has sailed. "They" have more information on everyone than they know what to do with it.

Navionics is a nice app, especially if you don't have a fish finder with GPS.
