Anyone have a Nitro z18? Was looking at maybe trading in my 2007 Aluminum Triton 50HP on a new Nitro z18 175 Pro XS..

Anyone own these? Thoughts?

I only know that every boat they give the pros in Major League Fishing (MLF) competion is a Z18 with a Merc 150 to make the boats equal.

Could be wrong, but I've seen some of the Major League Fishing boats with Bass Cat decals/stickers on them.  Notice on the console and at the stern.  The boarding ladder on the stern. near the power pole is not a Nitro product.

See the source image

I have owned a Z-7 and currently own a Z-8.  There is a huge difference in the ride and stability between the two.  I haven't priced them lately, but imagine the new equivalent of the Z-8 is considerably more expensive.  I don't think you can get any Nitro with a two stroke engine, unless it's a left over.

Yeah that was only when they started up doing the Cup series shows when MLF first came around.  Since then they've picked up Bass Cat as a sponsored boat and they use those in the Cup series also.  With the Bass Pro Tour MLF events the anglers can use their usual boat from whatever manufacturer they want and they have 250s on them (typically)

I don’t have a Z18.  I have a Z20 and wish that I didn’t.

 Why is that?

The list is long and boring.  A few items :  brakes locked up or bearings went out and ruined the axle, the charger quit, the cover did not last 6 months of easy use, the carpet is already needing replaced, etc.

Wow.. Makes you wonder if their boats on the market are even the same boats that the elites use

I know several guys that could be fishing whatever boat they wanted and they fish nitros.  Are they equivalent to a ranger or skeeter? Probably not. Are they priced comparably....not at all. For the difference in price I'd take a cple small inconveniences. I personally love Triton boats but I'd buy a nitro if I were in the market for a new glass rig. Find a good dealer and get the boat fairly priced and whatever issues you have will be under warranty.

Only for a year then you are basically on your own.  Even those warranty items normally have to be ordered and you are out of a boat for no telling how long.  The first year my boat set in the service lot waiting on one thing or another for weeks at a time.

That's unfortunate but I can assure you not all nitro owners have had this experience.  My Triton had a cple minor problems but a 2 week trip to the dealership solved them. Theres gonna be bad in everything made. I'd guess if u were out of a boat for extended periods it was as much ur dealer as it was nitro. Dont blame u tho...if I'd had that experience I would probably feel the same way.
