Cachuma lake tips and recommendations

Recommended Posts

I'm new to bass fishing and was hoping to get some tip and recommendations. I primarily fish around the banks of Cachuma lake and had a tiny amount of luck with crankbaits (only 2 LMB and 1 crappie) in late spring. Any suggestions on what will work best at Cachuma? Especially for the different seasons.

Are there any spots along the banks that you'd recommended?

Thanks!

The main enteance into lake Cachuma is a major point with 3 campgrounds, Dakota being near thr middle of the point, the marina on the east side near the base of this point.

The entier major point is good bass fishing from shore. The Teqeapis point,  the tip, drops off into thr main lake channel with the eat side steeper, the west side towards the dam more sloping.

A split shot rig, using a slip shot presentation, works very well all around this major point.

The slip shot rig consists of a 1/8 oz Mojo or Pro-jo tubular weight, 8 mm glass bead, a Carolina stopper and Owner #5133 1/0 down shot hook on 6 lb to 8 lb mono line. Roboworm Oxblood lite red flake or MMIII 4 1/2" to 6" curl tail worms. Weight stopper to hook length about 24"-30". Fan cast the entire point all the way around both sides, including the marina docks and launch ramps. Simply drag the rig slowly along the bottom and you will catch lots of bass.
