I do not work anymore as I am retired

Been retired for 10 yrs but I'm always working on something for somebody.

My goal this winter is to throw a 68Special all the time and see if I can shake a larger-then-average bass out of my local ponds.  I tried it last year but the rod I was using provided so little feedback that it was hard to both ensure that I was creeping it slowly along the bottom and keeping me engaged enough to even be able to react to the few bumps/hits that I did manage to get.  I have a much more sensitive rod now and I think I have finally gotten my glove game figured to the point where I can spend couple hours at it in reasonably good comfort.

Hoping to survive knee surgeries and be back in good enough shape to be able to fish next spring.

Good luck. Hope all goes well

I plan on catching some crappies for the freezer, maybe fish for some stocked trout with my wife too.She usually outfishes me on the stocked trout. Also, my son in law has a couple of beagles that are ready now, so may do a little rabbit hunting. Havnt hunted rabbits for many years, so it might be fun. Aside from that, stay warm and fish for bass untill the lakes freeze over

Catt, I'm not retired yet, but I know how this goes. Once people realize you know how to fix things, it goes on and on. Garbage disposals, hot water tanks, cars, carpentry, the list keeps getting longer.

Make some crankbaits. I've been watching 'marling baits' on youtube.

I watched him make the Roman glide bait the other day, (for the 10th or 20th time) he is really good. I now know why those baits cost so much, he puts a lot of time and detail into making those baits. Good luck on yours @DanielG.

Fish as long as there isn’t ice on the water.

This.

And then not fall through the ice when ice fishing.

Pretty much the only option unless we have a mild winter.

Well, if you need company, let me know.

1. Sell my yak, get a 14 -16 foot aluminum boat and do a bass boat conversion.

2. Make some baits. I've made a popper and a super spook.

3. Fish as often as I do the rest of the year.

I'll be honest. In winter, I normally work 6 days a week most weeks. We are scheduled 4 10s, so 6 10s offers lots of mess around dough, but then again, Ichiban Tackle loves me in winter.

1. Catch a couple new species of fish for my fish lifelist.

2. Anything else is a bonus.

Wait for climate change to prevent winter altogether so I can keep fishing.

I'm retiring on 12/20/19. One of my sons owns a house on Six Mile Creek at Toledo Bend and I'll be spending a lot more time up there from January through May. When not up there I'm sure I'll be fishing around home (South Louisiana) also.

Thank goodness my wife loves to fish. She's actually pretty good with a baitcaster so I'm sure she will be along for the ride also.

I'm eyeing some of the more obscure topwater baits they still have.

Congrats on your retirement!

Semi retired now. But with 6 of 8 kids still at home I'll never fully retire.....never..

I caught an 8lb 3oz bass this Feb.  Goal this winter is to reach double digits. Never done that before. I really feel it'll be February before I have that chance this winter as well. But I will be increasing my chances as often as I can. With temps in the upper 90's nearly all of September winter still seems SO far away.....  However, before you know it we'll be reading @A-Jay Annual Ice-Out Thread.....

No doubt - the 2nd annual thread is getting closer by the day -

Best of luck to you.
