My new boat is loaded, and sits in a marina about 2 miles from my house, on a lift.  I'm having trouble sorting out different types of security systems.  Any and all suggestions will be appreciated.

I just installed a loc-r-bar on my boat last week before a trip.  No system will make your boat invulnerable.  The trick is to make it harder to steal your stuff than is is to steal from someone else.

The best way to keep someone from stealing something is to not leave it in your boat. Take off your electronics and don't keep a lot of tackle in the lockers. Leave the lockers unlocked. If you lock them, they will break them open, not knowing nothing is inside. Safety bars across your locker lids can easily be taken off with a crow bar and will do considerable damage to your boat.

 There are several alarm system on the market for boats that are very similar to car alarms. However, I'm with Looking45 on this one. Leave it unlocked and as empty as possible. Take your valuables out of the boat. It only takes a few minutes to take you gear out. Unless you pack your boat like KVD.
