Lowrance HD5

Featured Replies

I just purchased an HD5 with Lake Insight.

Should I buy a Hot Spots chip for it or what?

Congratulations on your new unit.  I have HDS units as well.  If you have the insight usa on your HDS 5 you will not need to buy the hot maps chip.  The insight usa has everything you will ever need.  It has the river channels and contour lines just like the hot maps.  I travel all over the country fishing tournaments and I have not had a problem with mine yet.  Have fun and good luck!

+1 I don't do all that much traveling but it works fine everywhere I've been.  8-)

You may not want to buy Hot Spots, but make sure you go to the Lowrance website.  There is an update that was released a month or so ago that your machine may not have.
