What line for new combo

Featured Replies

I recently got a new Daiwa Aird X Spinning 7"0 Medium Heavy with a Revros LT 2500 Spinning Reel. Its rated for 8-17lb line. Currently I have 10lb Zebco Omniflex, which is mono line. I was wondering if I should upgrade to braided line since I've heard it has more sensitivity and is overall better. If I should, what specific line and should I use a leader?

I agree with @Hewhospeaksmuchbull; if you want to convert to braid with a Medium Heavy rod, 15 lb. test is probably the way to go. I presently use 15 lb.  Power Pro, though. I'm satisfied.       jj

I was gonna say 12# braid... It throws great with no twist on a spinning rod and makes weird sounds when you get hooked up as it comes through the eyes!  That alone is worth it.

Camo (dark green), but it has faded. Seems to make no difference.       jj

My Medium-Heavy spinning rig with a 3000 reel has 20# Sufix 832 with 12# InvizX leader...course it's my main skipping rig, so I'm tossing by dock pilings, etc. Reason for the FC leader - abrasion resistance.
