Jigheads for Soft Plastics

Featured Replies

Can anyone recommend some non-screw lock fixed heads for fishing soft plastics?  Looking for something all-purpose/not finesse that I can use in place of a texas rig.

I like the VMC Rugby head pretty good, but I head back to a ball head when I start getting out of hard bottom and into wood.  I can't make any recommendations as far as a round-ball goes, as I use a screw lock for those.

Not quite a round-head - but the VMC Moon Eye jigs have worked well for me. They come in weights from 1/32oz to 1oz

Should add that I'm looking for something I can rig weedless

Those are what I've used so far.  Just looking around to see what similar options are recommended in that style.

Fin-tech Title Shot Jig may be along the lines of what you’re thinking…

Definitely will give those a try

Lead free bass jigs freestyle ballhead and damiki head are awesome. Both come in a variety  with eyes . Absolutely love them

These are outstanding.  I overlooked them until two years ago when I was looking for a good head to use with a hula grub, which I think they are perfect for.  I don't think anything I own is more weedless while still providing a reliable hookup.

EDIT: for reference

Check these out.

Been using that Swim jig head for a while not - very good IMO.

The Stealth Swim Jig head (top link) comes through cover better than the other two.

Comes with a screw lock that I do not use either.

Just about Any hook will work here.

Any idea how these fair with non-elaztech baits?

Yes they do tear a little bit with softer plastics, so sense im not sure what plastics you are fishing, any standard  EWG darter head works GREAT for lizards, craws, worms, what have you. (This is just a image, you dont have to buy owners if you dont want to, eagle claw makes a great budget option)

You could also peg a bullet weight if you want to save money.

If you are fishing swimbaits like a keitech on the other hand, you will be better off with a belly weighted hook like this. This is a eagle claw version, while you cannot buy them on tackle warehouse, I find them quite often at walmart

Ok, well good luck.

Btw, I already know how they work.

I use jigheads a lot of times versus using a pegged slip sinker.  My favorite by far is the rock walker jigheads by chompers.  You can even throw a skirt on them and make a finesse jig.
