Shimano Curado Medium Rod for Jerkbaits?

Featured Replies

Anyone have a Shimano Curado Medium 6'10" Rod that they use for Jerkbaits? The Shimano Expride would be nice, but I have no business spending that kind of money on a rod.

Just looking for "best bang for buck" here. I'm usually a Dobyn's Fury guy, but this rod was highly recommended by the guys over at Tactical Bassin.

very good choice.

The TB guys also recommend the Shimano SLXCX610M (@ 99) for a good budget jerkbait rod. I have this rod and landed a 8.5 lb bass with it using a Vision One-Ten from a fishing pier. I got to watch the fish swim over 6' in roughly 0.003 seconds +/- to slam the bait. She was staring at it sitting suspended and I gave it a small twitch and in the blink of an eye, she was on it!

Yea I saw that as well. I suppose that is another option! That's awesome!

What size jerkbait is your primary? If it is something not gonna be over 3/8oz I would op for 6’10ML, this rod will be more versatile and can be use as good Fluke /Senko rod as well.

Vision 110s and 110 Jrs. Often the +1 version.

A Vision 110 supposedly weighs about 1/2 oz and that is about the max I would want to throw with the SLXCX610M. I would say 1/4 to 1/2 would be the sweet spot. It is supposedly an XF action, but the medium power is maybe a tad on the light side to balance out the XF action. I think the XF action helps to quickly kill the forward momentum of a jerkbait, which you may or may not want.

Yea right now I'm on the list for the Curado Medium 6'10". I think that is what I will go with. If it works as a good Fluke rod that would be awesome too.

I have a 6’6” Shimano Curado medium from early 90’s when the line first came out. It’s a great rod for jerkbaits and rattletraps. Only problem is the foregrip cork is splitting when you tighten it up to hold the reel
