Daiwa Tierra 253 baitcast reel

Featured Replies

I have an opportunity  to pick a few up pretty cheap. My question is are they a good reel as I know they are older and not made anymore.Or would it be wiser to buy a new model from Daiwa, thanks for any input.

If they are the old blue baitcasters, I remember them as the 153's.  I doubt parts are even available but they were good reels, had mag z brakes and would cast light stuff well. I miss those days, they had some awesome reels Sol, Fuego, TDZ etc.

Use it for the same applications you would use a slow gear Tatula 150.  Its very similar but doesn't have a twing and palms slightly better.  I had an old advantage which is the same reel.
