Duckett Rods

Featured Replies

Just wanted to know opinions on Duckett rods. I have heard from people around me they are great. Also some say they are junk rods that snap when setting the hook. Just looking for thought and opinions. Thanks, Mike

I've never owned one, but I've always heard from people that I know they are some of the best rods out there.

I have owned a couple Ducketts for several years and I will own more in the future.  They fit a specific purpose for me.  The model I have has a strong backbone and a more parabolic tip.  Truly the absolutely perfect rod for chatterbaits and large spinners (for me).  They don't make the model I have any more but I've talked with Duckett Fishing and the Triad is similar but a bit "faster" on the tip and the Jacob Wheelers are very similar with perhaps even more parabolic action in the upper 1/3 of the rod.  During the time I have owned these Ducketts I've had numerous other brand rods break, I've lost/broken guides, had cork fall apart, etc. on many other rods and, even though I fish one of the Ducketts nearly every single time I go out, I've not have one single problem with either of them.  Duckett makes my short list.  I haven't found a Duckett that I would use for bottom contact, but I haven't looked for a Duckett for that either.
