Jon Boat "Cart"

Featured Replies

I need some ideas on transporting my jon boat from the truck to the water. I have no trailer for it, we just ratchet strap it in the back of the truck. A cart would also allow me to put everything in the boat and make one trip from the truck to the water, like battery and trolling motor. I tried a simple idea of a 2x4 with 2 wheels on the end but the boat seemed to slide across the board instead of with it. Anyone have any ideas they use?

Did you strap the boat down to the 2 X 4? If not, pick up 2 eye hooks, and put one on each end of the 2X4. Attach your strap and tighten it down. If it still wants to slide, put something non-slip on the 2X4.

A couple of eye bolts through the 2 X 4, a ratchet strap and fairly good size wheels (small bike size) should be all that's needed.

Small wheels are difficult to roll over lumpy or soft ground.

Find your balance point on the "carriage" and snug it down with the ratchet strap.  Good to go.
