Crankbait Oval split ring.

Featured Replies

I have some Owner #1 Oval split rings on my crank baits for the line tie. Are these too small? They are rated for 24 pounds. Should I use a #3 instead?

I use #2 and #3 on 99% of my baits but if it fits and allows the bait to move freely I'm sure it's fine.

X2 ~

The line tie knot slipping into the 'space' on a regular split rings make me crazy.

I go #2 on smaller cranks & jerkbaits and # 3 on larger hard baits like topwaters.

Every bait.

YMMV

Like the guys above - #2 and #3 Ovals on my cranks...but I use Teardrops on my jerks and topwaters...same sizes...'pointy' end is the line tie end.

Not to hijack the topic, but what are these teardrop split rings you speak of Ken??? I've never seen or heard of them.
