St. Croix Victory Rods

Featured Replies

Hey everyone.   I’m thinking I’m going to pick up a few st croix victory rods.   Im looking at 2 casting and 1 spinning.    For those that have time with them.   What are the top must have rods in casting and spinning?    One I was eyeing was the 7’1 MH (the grunt) and I already have the 7’3 MXF spinning.

thanks for all the input and have a great day.

What are you wanting to do with them? I have the 7' 3" H/XF and really like it but if you're looking for a crankbait rod that wouldn't do you any good.

I was thinking of 7’1 MH as an all round rod.   I was eyeing the 7’4 H for frogs and thicker stuff and then a spinning just to have another.  Probably the 6’10 ML.      I don’t need these rods just want to get them so try out the victory casting line.   But with a deal of buy 2 and get 1 free.  I might as well take advantage.  :)

so essentially that’s why I was asking for opinions on the top must get.

for cranking I don’t do that too much.  I have the evergreen jackhammer rod for chatterbaits and crankbaits that I enjoy a lot.

I have the Grunt. I’ve thrown jigs, Texas rigs and Spinnerbaits with it. It’s a nice rod for the money and I’d recommend it.

Just got the 7' 10" MMF yesterday. Cant wait to get it on the water. This will be for fishing small swimbaits and grubs mostly. Knowing me I'll end up throwing tubes on it too. Can't wait to fish it!

wait, where are you getting buy 2 get 1 free?

I have a couple ~

The 7'1" MF spinning

and the 7'1" MHF casting.

Both nice sticks, super light and definitely "fast"

I might even call them fast plus.

St Croix Victory Rods 2

My first fish on the casting rod was decent.

Place in your here in Canada.   Buy any 2 rods and 3rd is free.    I was just eyeing only the victory series.   I unfortunately won’t be home from work in time to take advantage of this in store sale.  ?

I got my kid the following. I've used each rod a little and gotta say I'm pretty impressed.

7'3" H/XF "Full Contact Finesse" which is a really great rod for jigs, T-Rigs and C-Rigs. It's more of a MH+ than a heavy really, but has the perfect backbone for a great jig rod. This might be worth considering since it's a somewhat unique rod that doesn't exist in every line and you may not have already.

7'3" MH/F "The Marshall" - think of this as your do everything with single hook rod. It still is a little on the heavy side, but not as much as the typical St Croix MH/F.

6'10" ML/XF. Pretty new, so far he's got a few on it, only lost one when it wrapped his line around his brother's anchor line. I haven't actually fished this, but I can say it balances perfectly with a Tatula LT reel.

I might also be inclined to look at the 7'3" M/XF spinning (especially if you fish from a bass boat - kayakers seem to regularly complain about this rod) and the 6'8" M/XF simply because that rod in the other St Croix lines is the perfect jerkbait and topwater rod.
