Kayak Combos

Featured Replies

In my kayak I’ll take 1-3 Rods.

7.2:1 mh/moderate

spinning rod

I take 3 rods.

ML 7'6" Spinning rod for NED/Drop Shot/hair jig/slip bobber

M 7' or 7'6" (depending on the water/cover) Spinning rod for tubes, grubs/swimbaits on ball heads/wacky/weighless weedless worms/lizards

Casting rod (length and power depends on the day/water/cover)

I finesse fish 90% of the time so I'm mostly using the spinning rods. When I'm using casting gear, the majority of the time it's a 6'6" for jerkbait. Works great from a kayak.

I've narrowed it down to 3:

MM 7'2" Mojo Glass for topwater / shallow running lures (most used)

MHM 7'2" Bass-X for deeper running / heavier lures

MF 7' spinning setup for plastics.

Most of my fishing is on a river and have been happy with these.

I have a Hobie Outback and usually carry 4 bait casters.

1.     7' medium

1.     7' medium heavy

1.     7.5' medium heavy

1.     7.5' heavy flipping

Some lakes I substitute one of the Bait casters with a medium spinning rod.  Some days I have a pattern dialed in and I only take one or two rods.
