Super User A-Jay Posted November 9, 2022 Super User Share Posted November 9, 2022 Always enjoy looking back through some of the more memorable times on the water. We had Ice out on most everything here 3rd week in April. My first brown bass went into the net on the 23rd and we were off and running. Besides some decent by catch, the highlight of the spring came in early May when I managed a 27 lb bag of smallies that included two over 6 lbs. A first for me. Summer was long & hot but I did get to fish with my wife in the canoe a few times. Always a Blast. As late August rolled around, I found a few good ones shallow. Got to hold another 6 lb smallie that hammered a popper. Even had the distinct pleasure of helping a fellow basshead document his new PB smallie. A 22 inch 6-12 Giant. Fall came & went and I got out a few more times. Held my last brown bass of this year seated in the Old Town, as the Pro-V Bass had to be winterized a little early this time around. ALL in all, a very challenging but fun fishing season. And as I begin the process of going through all my gear, I’m already looking forward to next year. Stay Safe A-Jay
Super User NorcalBassin Posted November 17, 2022 Super User Share Posted November 17, 2022 Congrats on another awesome year. Great slideshow and that's one heck of a combination of quality fish and beautiful country where you call home.

ol'crickety
Hey, I get 1% credit for A-Jay's fish because I go fishing, catch the biggest bass I can, overnight them to A-Jay, and A-Jay uses them for bait. #MichigansmallieseatMainelargies 1

Blue Raider Bob
Most of your pictures you look pleased, but some of them you look durned thrilled! Really enjoyed the video. Those fish are so much chunkier than what I'm able to hook down here, which leads to a question........here our pelagic bait fish species are Threadfin, and Gizzard Shad, along with Skipjack Herring. What endemic baitfish species do you have in such abundance that they allow such huge round fish?

What endemic baitfish species do you have in such abundance that they allow such huge round fish? Thanks ~ How could I not be pleased ? Many times I'm pretty darn close to hysterical ! These fish are so killer and super hard to find & catch. Holding the bigger models is so special and something that I never take for granted. What we do not see in the review video are the days & days of scouting, graphing and ZERO fish. Comes with the territory. @TnRiver46 has it right (Goby & perch) A consistent crayfish supply, the annual Mayfly hatch and a wide selection of various minnow & fry all add up to some rotundas brown bass. The stoutest smallies for me always come from lakes that are 'infested' with zebra mussels & goby. Might be the only infestation that I wildly approve of. Fish Hard A-Jay Things the DNR says are going to kill everything turned out to be beneficial. Typical. I’m having a multi layer dejavu in the smokies the hemlock wooly adelgid was going to kill all the hemlock trees and make the water too warm for the trout. As you may have already guessed, the trees trout and water are still thriving and the people that predicted doom are still collecting paychecks and predicting different dooms, hoping for millions of grant dollars to fight the next “threat”

T-Billy
Gobies are the snickers bars of the smallmouth world. Everywhere there's gobies, the brown bass are obese.
