I thought the small P. piraya was an Oscar, because of the color pattern and the fact of fishing in a lake, when Pirayas prefer strong currents, eddies and rocks. So, took it off-water with bare hands. By blind luck I wasn't bitten...

 

 

Gear: Kastking Centron Lite BFS rod + Kestrel Elite BFS reel + Hercules 6lb braided. My intent was to test this cheap setup, and   it got approved, with some reservations over the rod, in which the the ECS-like reel seat is somewhat slick.

Lures: small minnows, jerkbaits and topwater stickbaits.
