Hawgfinder Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 What’s the difference besides color is one better than the other? Is Digikata a reliable website? These questions probably answered somewhere but I didn’t find them Quote

These questions probably answered somewhere but I didn’t find them Scorpion 150 mgl is based on the curado 200 frame, but a 150 size spool. Curado 150 mgl is a new frame design, a bit smaller. Digitaka is very reliable and fast shipping. 3-4 days from Japan to Canada. Good customer service as well. 1 Quote
Tatulatard Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 Yep. The scorpion is a shallower spool sparkly red curado 200k. Cool looking reels. Quote
stratos4me Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 The scorpion is going to be much harder to get repaired. It will also have no warranty. My reel guy won't touch them because it's hard to get parts. He said some JDM reels like Bantams are easier to get parts for, but he specifically singled out the scorpion as being a PITA due to parts availability. Quote

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure the only difference between the Scorpion MGL and the Curado 200k is the Spool and other parts should be interchangeable, Kind of like, I've replaced parts out of my 2017 Scorpion DC using the Curado 200i parts except the DC side plate and spool of course. Yes USDM Bantam are the same as JDM pretty much. 2 Quote

You need a new reel guy if he thinks the scorpion 150 mgl is anything but a red shallow spool curado 200k. Quote

He literally said "Everyone thinks the curado and scorpion have the same parts but everything's different." I have no idea what that means, and I don't even know if he's right. Now, the lack of a factory warranty on most JDM reels is indisputable. Some retailers offer various parts or short term guarantees, but factory warrantees are virtually non-existent. I fish mostly shimano, and since issues from the factory are extremely rare, trading the factory warranty for a great price is a good risk/reward. Quote
Hawgfinder Posted February 17, 2023 Author Posted February 17, 2023 I appreciate the input everyone as always I learn something new Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 I’ve never seen anything mechanical in a JDM reel that blew me away compared to USDM models. I’ve never seen one “all different” inside either. Although warranty is an issue, I think any good seller would make right on anything glaringly bad right out of the box. 3 Quote
