recommend rod for 5" hollow body swimbaits?

Featured Replies

Looking for a rod for 5" hollow body swimbaits. Weights will be 3/8-1/2 plus the swimbait.

A MH/MF would be my first choice.  I throw those on 7'6 MH Expride.  I like the longer rod for casting distance on my water.

Id use a 7'3 h in the Falcon line up. Believe it's the Amistad special. Have it in a few different lines. Soft enough but plenty of backbone as well.

Ark Invoker Pro 7' 4" H MF. Outstanding for swimmers, chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits... basically any single hook moving bait, or baits with stout trebles like ploppers. I have four and they see lots of use.

I’m not sure what your price range is but my suggestion is the Okuma TCS-A in 7’-3” heavy power. I have this exact rod and it has a softish tip with a ton of backbone. It’s listed as a frog/swim bait rod with a weight rating of 1/4-2 oz. And is priced at $165.00

+1 on that suggestion. This rod is surprisingly sensitive for the price. I am usually a guy that fishes only high end rods. This rod is in my rotation for swimbaits and chatterbaits!
