Lews hack attach reel at Academy?????

Recommended Posts

Anyone have any info on the Lew's Hack Attack HD LFS 100 Baitcast Reel that's sold at academy? No reviews out there other than what's on academy. No info on the Lews site either. Got it on sale and curious if it's a good deal.

I bet you’ll like it. I mostly have Tournament Pros  and above Lews reels and I’d have ordered a Hack Attack if they had a lefty. Too good a deal to pass up and I’’m confident I would have liked it. I wouldn’t sweat it.

I'm pretty sure it's the exact same reel as the KVD reel. Just with Winn knobs.

I bought one. First one I got wasn't very smooth. Swapped it for another one, and it's better. I wouldn't call it "smooth", but it's ok for $65.

It does cast really well.

That's what I'm figuring too. I'm a big Lew's guy myself. Was just a little worried when this specific reel was not on the lews site, thought it might be a gimmick. If it holds up half as long as my first-gen super duty, then I consider it a great buy. Thank you for the feedback

Probably a great reel, I know their customer service is exemplary.   Just odd to inquire AFTER the purchase.

Yeah, not ideal. Thought I caught the tail end of a weekend sale, so here we are.

Had one in order with that deal. Ended up canceling after handling one in person before mine came in. Ordered the pitch and flip. Much more my style.

FYI. I confirmed with Lew's.

The black Hack Attack reel is the same reel as the KVD.

Just different paint and knobs.

Darn you for confirming!  I had to go out and buy 2 because it's like BOGO KVD reels!

The KVD one I have is excellent for the money.

But thank you for doing so.  All the specs on the Academy page match the KVD one as well.  Oh and I signed up for the 10% for new emails and got more off.

No Brainer!

I really don't need one of these. But I'm tempted to give Lew's a chance at this price. Those who have ordered one how did it ship? USP/FedEx or USPS?

I didn't need them but I bought them anyway because they are half price.  I know they are not Shimano Curado's or anything like that.  But my Lews reels have treated me really good.  I have mostly the $100 speed spools, 1 KVD and 1 Tournament MP which is basically the same.  I don't notice the geary stuff that people talk about.  My reels have been smooth and workhorses.  I don't grease them.  I keep them clean and just use them.

Maybe if you compared these middle of the road reels to the higher end stuff at Shimano they might not be the same but your not paying that price either.

To answer you actual question they come USPS.  I am on the east coast and they shipped from Columbia, SC according to the tracking and will be here on Tuesday.
