Brazil has a new president.  He is reinstating the need for USA travelers to get a travel Visa.  the new system is green-lit on Oct 1, 2023.  guess what day we are hoping to land in Brazil?  yup.  Oct 1, 2023.   they say it takes 3 weeks to get an approved Visa, and they will not be even available to get until the 0ct 1.  hahahha..  this is a classic "catch-22" scenario!!  

 

i did buy travel insurance, so if this blows up in my face, i will get credit for the airline, and get my $$ back on the guided portion.

my travel group is scrambling to buy insurance.  hahaha.

Go a day early & circumvent the change. 

we thought about it, but the flight and hotel was problematic.   the flight costs were kinda nuts. 

International travel is always problematic. If your group really wants to go it's an option. Obviously it's your choice. The airline change would be the major hurdle.

Dwight,  i just want it noted for the record that you are a friggen genius for really thinking outside the box.    i didnt consider maybe flying into a more touristy place like RIO a few days early just to get my foot in the door.  hahahha..  i should send my travel agent an email. 

that was my first thought as well.  get into the country before it goes into effect.  That also gives you a buffer for travel delays (normally).  

Consulate just emailed.  Grace period until beginning of next year.  They were not ready and won’t be for awhile.
