Slings and arrows incoming!!!! Here it is

Im not one that gets upset about the schedule, in fact I can’t wait to watch. Any tournament director/organization will tell you scheduling is by far the hardest part of the process

Meh, the schedule is the least of BASS's concerns.    At least there's no SLR, or Champlain.

Looking forward to the MLF and NPFL though, I'd imagine they realize the importance of holding at least one event in the birth place of pro Bass fishing.

I swear a monkey is compiling this schedule every year.  There's 2 times (for 4 events) that are on back to back weeks.  Then there's weeks on end with nothing.

When there is a delayed day because of weather, the anglers who make the top 10 on the last day, lose out on a day of pre-fishing at the next event.  So essentially they're punishing anglers who do well.  Its happened multiple times in recent years, and yet they continue to do it.

Lack of logistical brain power no doubt about it.

I’m pretty sure they all lose a practice day for next tourney in the event of weather delay , not just the top 10. That way it’s the same for everybody

also they only go back to back weeks once for 2 events, not twice for 4 events

the calendar police shall consider this a misdemeanor citation

I don’t think that’s the case. I read about some anglers getting a head start at the next event more than once in recent years because of a weather delay at the previous one.

If they prohibit pre fishing for a day at the next event for everyone, including the 10 anglers fishing the final day at the previous event, then this whole point is moot. I’m skeptical of that though.

It occurs twice for 4 events. It happens between 1 and 2 and again between 5 and 6. That’s twice for 4 events.

Wonder why they don’t list the Classic either. Technically isn’t that an Elite event or is it not considered one?

Ah you’re right about events 5 and 6, the broken up columns got me. The calendar police shall negate the misdemeanor

Looking forward to the Albemarle Sound event and hoping they don't set any boundary restrictions. Would be cool to see how some of the pros would attack Back Bay or North Landing River. And if they're spotted in the Northwest River, just take their pro card away immediately.

The B.A.S.S. schedule looks good to me. As I’m not a “pro” the schedule really doesn’t mean anything to me, I’m watching top level bass fishing no matter where the tournament is being held.

I can totally see why and it makes sense.  Most (many?) of the pros that are fishing the series are based in the south east.  Costs to fish the tournament are clearly high on the organizers minds given the removal of entry fees.  Dragging a boat from East Tennessee to St Clair or Lacrosse is a lot of time/fuel/money.  Same for Texas and to a lesser extent Florida.  So you put the tournaments back to back so that the anglers can drive up, spend two full weeks, then drive home.  It saves the round trip.

Thank you, That’s about how I figured it as well. They’d  probably rather potentially lose a practice day than have to drive across the country two extra times or incur lodging expenses for an extra week or two

They will have basically the same lodging expenses.  You show up on Monday for a tournament on Thursday-Sun.  Repeat.  If they were spread out you might get there a day or three earlier, but compared to driving 13+ hours each way that's a breeze.  A 13 hour drive is really two days (or a day and a half).  And that's just the average.  Chattanooga to Lacrosse is 13.  Clayton is 15+.  I've done NY to Atlanta a couple times as a day trip each way and its a lot.  Can't imagine one day plus pulling a boat.

Just once I'd love for them to do an October event on a northern fishery like Champlain where SM and LM both can play.

But I thought you said when an event is delayed, they prohibit a practice day for everyone at the next event? Seems to me like you’re now back tracking that statement.

No back tracking here.

what I’m getting at is they would rather lose a practice day (2 instead of 3) in the event of bad weather than to have to travel back home for a couple days, then come back to NY, TX, wherever a week later.

my previous statement merely stated that I think (don’t know) that everyone loses a practice day in the event of bad weather, not just the top 10 of the previous event on back to backs

the reason they have back to back events, like @casts_by_fly stated, is so that anglers and personnel don’t have to double their travel time and costs. The potential of losing a practice day or even competition day because of weather is minimal compared to having to drive across the country twice while trailering a boat

back to back events are good for the angler and the staff

And we’re thinking of this from the angler side. Don’t forget that the stages and equipment, weigh stations, broadcasters equipment, etc all have to travel also.
