Tatula elite AGS

Featured Replies

I have a chance to pick up the all-purpose model. Does anyone have any experience with this model or the AGS guides in general ?

I don’t have the All Purpose but I have the 7’4” and 7’6” H AGS models, and have owned non AGS Tat Elites as well.

The big thing with the AGS guides is they lighten the rod up and make it balance much better. Some of the longer Non-AGS rods are a bit tip heavy, but the AGS guides do a good job of balancing the rod. You also get a slight sensitivity boost thanks to the stiff, light guides and the overall weight reduction of the rod. The trade off is that the guides are more fragile. I’ve personally never had any issues with them but I can imagine if you step on one the guide could shatter, as opposed to bending like a metal guide would.

I think they are worth the price jump over the non-AGS rods on longer rods and for bottom contact presentations

It's the 7ft 3 MH casting rod.

There was online talk about ags guides not playing nice with braid, but I have two ags rods and fish braid to leader without issue.

I have one rod with AGS which is a drop shot rod and haven't had issues with using braid or breaking a guide but that being said I am too afraid of hurting the guides to buy them on other rods and would rather just buy the non-ags rods

Very curious to hear what people have to say about the AGS guides. I know the older ones seemed to have a reputation of being fragile, but the new generation is apparently much better from what I understand.

This is what I have heard also.. but, it's only money. The rod will ship Monday.

I’ve got a Tatula Elite 7’ M/MH and a Steez 7’2 H with AGS guides. No problems with the guides
