Sinking braid

Featured Replies

What are your thoughts on sinking braid as opposed to regular braid that floats?  Due to my failing eyesight, I must use hi vis yellow line for jigs and plastics.  I can't see anything else anymore.  Clear mono and FC is invisible.  I even tried some of that colored FC and I can't see it anymore either.

Would sinking braid provide better feel on horizontal lures?  I'm not having any problems with my set up now, 30# Sufix 832 his vis yellow, but always trying to improve.  Thanks for your input!

YGK has begun marketing their product to US, with US website, and even pound-test ratings.

Their sinking braid is JDM G-Soul and Jigman.

The Izanas weave includes fluorocarbon fibers that give it the sinking property.

I've never tried it, but others on the forum who have used G-Soul rate it highly.

IMO, it's only really needed in larger sizes.  Threadline sizes cut through the surface tension and sink with the lure.

I've been experimenting with 20lb YGK G-Soul SS112 sinking braid for a weightless fluke in tidal cypress knees. I wanted the line to not impede the fluke and shimmying down while being carried by tidal flow. I still see the braid floating and not breaking surface tension in a weightless presentation. It's probably fine for a bottom presentation, but didn't really impact what I wanted it to do.

I'm using Almight.  in hot pink.   mostly for weightless stuff, and the dropshot.  it doesnt sink like Flouro, but it does drag stuff down...slowly.

I see the hot pink easily.
