Keeping the @Swamp Girl theme going...

I caught my record numbers for smallmouth yesterday @ 56.  Most of them were in the 1 to 1.5 pound range.  The biggest was right at 4 pounds.  They were devouring white flukes left and right, cast after cast.  I actually ran out of flukes, and switched to one of my Karashi's and caught a bunch more.  That was a brand new bait when I started, and now the paint is halfway gone on it. 🤣

But what a day that was.  Got on the water at 2:30 p.m.  Was supposed to fish only about 2 to 3 hours.  Ended up loading the kayak back in the truck at 8:45 p.m. I just couldn't stop I was having so much fun!

Excellent!

Nice @Rockhopper!! Those numbers with a 4lber in the mix is a great day!!

Columbia?

Were the fish pre-, post-, or mid-spawn?

Big Ashes lake.  Its that triangle shaped lake on the big bend of the highway downstream from where you launch.  Looked like a mix, honestly. Some were tore up, and others looked like they hadn't even started yet.

Thanks @Rockhopper! Makes sense that some are spawning and others are waiting for the upcoming full moon next week.

Did you launch at Big Ashes or did you go in through the tunnel? I have gone down to the mouth before but never went in (that was during the summer). This year I did go into Rock Cove a few times and saw some folks launching in there.

I talked with a guy a few weeks back who was launching at Stevenson and going down to Ashes to troll for trout.

One of these days I am sure I will see you out on the water!

I always park and launch here. It's a tight squeeze with blackberries. You'll get some stripes on your paint.
