New H2OX rod!

Featured Replies

Looks like Academy is revamping some of their H2OX rods. They have a new rod out and It looks like a GSM built rod. It seems to have a Dobyn's blank with a Phenix M1 butt. The reel seat is kind of a mystery to me. It looks interesting and it seems to be priced well.

I'll take that into account. I've never tried their rods, but this one looks good for only $80. On the other hand, I bought a hard swimbait and some poppers from them. They were pretty good quality.

Most reviews agree. I'd have to handle this rod first to see if I'd like the butt material. Luckily there are 2 stores within 18 miles of where I now live. I don't know if there was an Academy Sports store in the state I moved from.

I like academy rods. I think I have 5 or 6 of them. I got all of them on a crazy clearance sales, but they’re decent rods. I consider one of them to be really good. I’ll definitely plan to check this one out if they get them in my local store.

I used to really like some of their Ethos series rods, like the Ethos Nano HD series. They were nice light rods with decent sensitivity.

I don't think I have any left though. As I've picked up various other options along the way, I've little by little given all of the ones I had away. They were good options at their normal $79 - $99 price range, and even better when they went on sale for $39 - $59.

I kind of like the looks of that new one shown above. The last thing I need right now is more rods, but sometimes I can't resist checking them out!! 😄
