I've been using the Power Pro Braid (moss green) 20lb line lately.  It's been great but I wonder if it's had an impact on the number of fish I'm catching.  I was considering switching to the Berkly Vanish Floro to see if it catches me more fish.  Now...I know there are a lot of different variables when it comes to line, but what would you recommend for an all-purpose, reliable line?  Also, if there's something besides these two, please let me know.  These were just what I'm using for reference.  One more thing...I'm using it on a BPS baitcaster if it matters.

Are you fishing plastics slow or a faster moving bait like spinners or cranks.?

Mostly swim baits, crankbaits, and jigs.  Hope this helps.

Berkly Vanish Floro

 

If you are going to use Berkly Floro get the Transition.  It has better knot strength.  Berkley Vanish will break with most knots.  The only two knots I can get to hold well with Vanish in the Uni-Knot and the Double Clinch Knot.  Even if I wet the knot through the intire thghtening process I sometimes have to tie the knot 2 or 3 times to prevent breakage.  A Palormar Knot works well with Transition for me.  Be sure to test your knots with Floro.

I fish where the water is ultraclear and don't use PP. For a good multipurpose line it is hard to beat mono.

For baitcasting gear I suggest #12 (19.5 lb test) Yo-Zuri Hybrid. Green blends well in clear water, smoke is nearly invisible in stained water. On spinnning tackle I recommend #6 (11.9 lb test) Hybrid Ultra Soft. In use, this line has virtually no memory. Both original formula Hybrid and Hybrid Ultra Soft are highly abrasion resistant, do not absorb water, are not effected by UV light and do not require a speciial knot.

If you are happy with the Power Pro then stick with it and tie on a Floro leader for your test.  10 ft of leader should take away any doubt weather the fish saw the Power Pro or not.
