Can some of you share the way you tie the line on the reel when putting new line on?

I typically just tie a standard arbor knot, I think that's what it's called.  I've wondered if just taping the line end to the spool would be a good idea.

I realize it's not a big deal but I'm always interested iin a better way to do things-if there is one!

I usually tie a uni knot with a few less turns, however, I don't think it really matters. It seems to me that if something big is making a long run and takes out line right down to the end, that knot's gonna break, whatever it is.

The arbor knot is the correct knot to tie the line to the spool.

tpayneful got it right on the spot! simple over hand knot with an over hand knot on the tag line....aka arbor knot!

You don't need to tie at all.

Have to go with Marty and Lubina here, only thing different is I use a small piece of double stick tape on the arbor then spool on the line. If you get a fish large enough to take all the line from the spool the knot you use won't make a dimes worth of difference.

Thanks for all of the replies.  I like the idea of using a piece of double stick tape to start off with.  You're certainly right about the type of knot being somewhat of a none issue if the fish takes it that far out!!
