I WOULD LIKE THIS TO BE ALMOST ALL PURPOSE, 8-) FOR TOPWATER AND ANY OTHER JURES JUST UNTILL I GET MORE MONEY TO BUY THE DIFFRENT OCCASION RODS

  • Super User

The combination I suggested can be considered "all-purpose".

Your first rod should have a firm tip so it can be used to fish soft plastics and jigs. Although treble hook lures will fish fine, your next purchase should be something with a soft tip or Moderate Action.

I THINK I MIGHT TRUST YOUR JUDGMENT AND GET THE 6'6 MH COMBO (DO YOU HAVE THIS ROD) OR WHICH WOULD HAVE A FIRM TIP

No, I don't fish BPS rods, but some of our members that are familiar with them think they are fine at this pricing point.

Most guys will say that the rod is more important than the reel. I think that is probably true if we are just talking about "catching" fish. However, most of our time is not spent "catching". The majority of the time we are just "fishing" and a high quality reel makes this aspect far more enjoyable. On average, my reels represent 2/3 - 3/4 of the cost of a combination.

Later on you may decide to upgrade your rods, but you will probably keep your Citica for a decade or more. At this pricing point, the Citica is a great reel!

I READ YOUR FOROUM LINKS AND I HAVE A SPINNING ROD NOW IM TRYING TO WORK ON MY BAITCASTING SO A 6'6 FAST ACTION HEAVY ROD :-?

You cant go wrong with the BPS rods for the money. I own two BPS rods and used them exclusively before I decided to upgrade. You can get a BPS rod for 60 and in a few days you can get a Plueger reel for 80 (50 off the price) during there Spring sale. This would be a nice combo to start with. I still use this setup with 7'MH for big spinnerbaits.

I have a Citica 100DSV that has never been used and a BPS Extreme 7'MH rod that I might let go for $150 if you are interested.

Maybe a little discount should be considered since the same outfit is offered at BPS for $140 after rebate.

:;)

I bet it cost me a lot more than $10 to ship it. And he won't have to wait 3 months on his rebate. After paypal expenses and my shipping costs I will probably make $120 maybe. So on second thought maybe $150 is a fair deal.
