Is there a such thing as line being too limp that it's bad?

I heard that you want want some memory for using baitcaster, but you don't want stiff line with spinning. So is a line with virtually no memory at all always a good thing?

line with "no" memory (i.e. well worn braid) is very very prone to tip wraps.

Been there, done that, still have the rod fragments to remind myself to leave the braid where it belongs.

I fully understand your question.  I have tried some of the superlines like Power Pro, Spiderwire, etc on casting reels and for the most part all seem to work well.  I do have a personal prefference for Power Pro just due to working with it more then the rest.

However for spinning reels I found these superlines too limp and if I filled the spools to normal levels they would unwind into a pile if I was not careful.  After watching an In fisherman show on TV they were using Fireline.  Switched over to it and have not had a single problem since.   Just a slight amount of memory to keep it on the spool and not wrap the guides or tip, but yet limp enough to cast a mile.  I use 10 lb for Shakey heads and drop shotting, 14 lb for everything else with a spinning reel setup.

I use 15# Power Pro with spinning and the limpness does cause problems, like the tip problems described above plus getting tangled around lures. However, the advantages outweigh the minuses to me.
