Drop Shot Rod?

I want to do some drop shot'in this year. What is a good action for a drop shot? Soft tip 7 ft. rod?

I currently use a Shimano Crucial 6'8" MH DS rod.  It is awesome for drop shotting.  Don't let the "MH" designation fool you though.  It has a very light tip.

I typically drop shot as deep as 35-40'.  If you were to constantly drop shot in deep water the 7'2" version would probably be a better fit.  I originally wanted that exact rod but it was an extended lead time on them at the time I purchased mine.

I also have the 6'8 crucial and it is a great rod for ds as well as shakey heads, tubes and small jigs.  I too wanted the 7'2 when I was making the purchase but bass pro didn't carry them in store and I didn't have enough time to order it.

I use a drop shot rig on everything light spinning tackle to my flipping stick.  Pick the gear that fits the cover.  For light spinning applications, I like my Kistler DS rod.
