Berkley Frenzy vs. LC pointer 78

I just bought a berkley frenzy suspender (yes, I do fish with lures not made in Japan ;D).

This bait looks really good and the similarities to pointer 78 are obvious. I wonder if it also catches fish like the pointer?

Over the years I have seen a lot of companies copy one another's ideas but this has to be the closest copy I have ever seen.  I wouldn't think they would be of the same quality but at a glance I can't really tell.

When you get a chance to fish them and compare them to each other, let us know how they performed.

I referenced in a past post a little while back where a buddy and I fished some baits side by side for awhile.  Every 5-10 minutes we switched rods with eachother.  The first post I didn't mention what the baits were.  Actually, over the years we've done it several times with different baits.  Guess what?  Those are the first set of baits we did this with (even the same color).  We did this over several outings covering "good" and "poor" days.  On that particular water at that particular time the fish catching performance was equal (for the bait anyways, I did show to be the better angler  ;D).

Hard jerks are very high on my priority list for early season smallies. However, at $15 bucks a pop, the LC's do raise some eyebrows. Here's my opinion. The action of a hard jerk is in the hands of the the angler. It's sort of like plastic worm fishing. The only thing you really need to be concerned about is what is your bait doing when you pause it. Does it float up, stay where it is, or sink? Best bait action I've found is when they slowly decend on the pause. This changes by the barometric pressure on a given day and the water temperature. Carry some suspend dots with you and I really don't think the less expensive jerks are any worse - or better - than the LC's. (I've been using the LC's and X-Raps with little difference in my catch ratio.) As a matter of fact, Netcraft has some knock-off 78's & 100's with a darn good looking finish, for around $3 bucks a piece (without hooks & hangers of course). I'm going to give them a whirl this coming spring myself.  :D

Go to the Jann's Netcraft website and take a look at the bait called the "Springer."  It IS a Lucky Craft Pointer copy (located in lure bodies section).  They are really nice and cheap (like $3).  The colors also match the LC colors!

I have a bias against Rebel baits.

I just don't like em.

That pointer knock off however is a close as you can get.

Can you post a link to the Berkley Frenzy suspending?
