Best lightweight spinning reel

Featured Replies

I am looking for a nice spinning reel for a lightweight setup.  Price range for the reel is around $120.  Throw some suggestions out there.  Seems like the pfleuger president comes up a lot.  What else?

Check out the pfleuger supreme for under100.00 .

I have all 3 and would say for a small spinner it makes little difference which one you buy, they're all good.  I think the stradic is the best, however a bit more in price.  Any reel you buy you'll be satisfied.

Daiwa Tierra, Pflueger President XT, Shimano Sahara or Symetre.

I have all of them, like them all. Of late, the Sahara has really become my favorite. I do love the Tierra though.

I own two Presidents a 6735 and 6720 and they are by far one of the best spinning reels under 100 bucks. But if you have the money get a supreme. ;D

Presidents, very nice reels & worth the money. Abu Cardinals (500/600 series), definitely worth the $$$ & overbuilt. Of course you have Shimano & Daiwa. Now, that said, I have fished the crap out of a Sedona over the past two weeks, and it only seems to get smoother. Why? Don't know, but it seems to be improving. It's a cheap reel, but others have said well worth the money. I'm not pushing it, it was a gift, but it is getting better, hmmmm. Go to a well stocked shop & play. You'll find it.

;D

how light you wanna go??

i have a shimano sahara 500 size and love the thing,

its amazing!!!!

ive got suffix braid (2/6) on it with a Fish eagle II 5'6" UL.....

its a little powerhouse of a reel that wont let you down.....

...here's my proof.....

Great fish Mrlite,

No 65lb braid on a 20lb class rod, with a b/c capable of reeling in a spinner shark, hmmmmmmm.

That's what I call real fishing!

Nice bass mrlitetackle but where are your pants?

My thoughts exactly.

I picked up a brand new Pflueger Supreme for $80. I wanted a high speed retrieve. Pretty darn nice reel for that price.

If you don't mind a slower retrieve speed, I would go with a Tierra. Extremely high quality reel for the price... which you can probably find for $120

....i fish naked.

no for real though,

they're there.... just riding a little low, i didnt have a belt (or forgot it at least that day!).

Hmm you see a fish which is in the foreground a monster at that and you take the time to wonder where his pants are? Its almost like the picture where theres a smoking hot chick in the foreground in a bikini and theres something totally weird in the way background and it states if you see the background image then you are totally .... (family site) but you get the idea.

I'm saving my money for the Stradic CI4 pending good feedback/reviews from members.

Well, although that suggestion has nothing to do with this

question, I'd have to agree! Save some money and put off

the purchase until next spring.

8-)

I would recommend a Sahara.  It is good for a good price.

I have had line twist problems with my Pflueger President and Supreme.  I know numerous people that have no such problems (and they will say I am crazy).  I close the bail by hand, etc., and still have issues.

I now fish both my Pfluegers with braid and a 2.5-ft mono shock leader.  This has basically solved the problem.

LOL I dunno, just thought it looked odd.
