14lb breaking at 6.88lbs???

Featured Replies

for the sake of being curious i tied some trilene xl to my rapal mini 50 scale and gave a gradual tug, not a violent shock type of tug. test one the line broke at 6.88lbs, the second it broke at 13.00lbs.. any ideas why it would be breaking so low? the two lenghts of line were about two feet long.. its strange its breaking so low but even more strange that they broke at such different amounts...

Did it break in the middle or where you tied the knots? How old was the line?

a few possibilities..

1) Rapala scales can be set for KG or LB... make sure its set for LB.

2) Is the line actually breaking somewhere or at the knot you tied?

3) If 1 is set for LB and 2 is snapping in the middle.. how old is the line?

4) Have you left it in your vehicle at all or has it been properly stored?

5) if all of the above are in your favor... return it.
