I'm curious how many people go out with one or more designated flipping set ups?  

I normally use my Kistler Argon 7'1 H/F (My primary frog rod) as a dual purpose for a flipping rod.

I am continuously told that I should have a dedicated heavy flipping stick I just don't necessarily see why.

I have debated buying a designated flipping set up in the past, but ended up opting out each time.

The thing is, the area I live in there isn't really ideal areas for flipping heavy cover or punching, the two reasons I would want a heavy duty stick.

Flipping docks and what not the Argon fits the bill.

Guess my question is how many people carry a flipping stick that is way to big for what they really need and use it for flipping docks etc in the mean time until they may fish somewhere they are able to use it to its potential?  

I'm always fishing in the trash.  Got a dedicated 7'6" flippin stick and a 7'3" frog/punching/flipping rod.  I say if you can get by with one rod to serve both purposes then why not.  Leaves more $$ to buy more crap.

My flipping/pitching stick is also my frog rod. I have found that I generally do not fish both baits in the same area or at the same time.

Seems like you keep answering your own questions man! If there is no need for one than get something else! I keep 3 dedicated flippin' rigs in the boat all the time. Two 7' 6" and a 7' 3" as well!

I think it comes down to where u fish at.... If ur fishing in a place with lots of mats and thick grass u definately need a permanent flipping setup.  Since I mainly fish the cal delta I always have a flipping stick, and a frog rod. Usually these two techniques go hand in hand for me because ur fishing the same areas with both. Frog on top and beaver on bottom.  8-)
