G Loomis PR845C rod designed for??

Featured Replies

I went to BPS and bought a 7 ft G Loomis GL2 PR845C rod, med heavy with mod fast tip yesterday.  I was looking for a sturdy rod to throw medium to larger cranks and spinner baits.  Now I'm looking on the G Loomis web site and can't find this specific model.  What specifically is this rod designed to do??

PR = popping rod.

It is designed to fish live bait (shrimp)

with a popper in saltwater.

My main smallmouth rod is a PR844S used to fish

shiners on a split shot rig.

I also have the PR844C for fishing larger jerkbaits.

Your rod might be best for deep diving crankbaits.

THANKS Roadwarrior.   Now I'm wondering if I should go back and look at other alternatives for my stated purpose.  What would be the recommendation for the purposes I noted in the first post?

I think the PR845C will be fine, especially for big baits and

deep divers. You may find it a little heavy for "standard"

spinnerbaits, but if you fish 3/4 and 1 oz Ledgebusters,

it will probably be alright.
