Did I severly hurt my line?

Yesterday me and my Dad spent the whole day fishing, basically pond hopping. Each time we left a place i would take my lure off the line and reel in the line so i could put my neoprene cover on my Carbonlite reel. When we arrived at our last spot just after sunset i ran the line through the guides and tied on a Zoom horny toad weightless, which i've been using all day.

So my first cast started nice. Went fine for about 20 feet, then would suddenly stop. Causing a large backlash, but not crimping or cutting any line ( GOTTA LOVE INVISX 8-)). This proccess repeated 7 more consecutive casts, inbetween each cast, checking for something wrong with the line or spool each time. And i knew it wasnt the brakes because I hadn't touched them all day and was doing fine.

Then, on accident I glanced at my guides with the light from my dad's lighter and saw my second guide, I had gone through the guide, and then came around and went through the guide again, causing a loop around the guide. that was my problem.

But from those 7 or so casts with the line wrapped on my guides, my line ( InvisX 15#) has very small tight, almost looking like spool memory, but way too small. (Penny sized curls.)

So my question is, is my line still useable? or should i trash it and respool.

Thanks in advance for all your advice,

and sorry about me making a super extra big post. 8-)

If you suspect any line damage, strip it off, and retie your lure on.. :)

There's no nicks or abrasion though, my line is just in a really tight, small coil i cant seem to undoo, even with KVD's help.

Welp, if there aren't any folds, or nicks ect..the line should be good. If you can't undo the coils, or tangles, then cut off as much as need be, and use the remaining line on the reel for backing. Tie some new line on, and your good to go. This way you don't waste a whole spool of line which saves you $$$.

I would tie the line to something and walk into the yard stretching it a bit, then keep a little tension on the line as you reel it in. Spray it down with KVD Line & Lure. Let it dry overnight, and give it a try. After a few casts it should be OK. If not it will make good quality backing. :)

If you can't get the loops out, reverse the line so the loops are next to the spool.
